BE MY WITNESS

MISSION OBJECTIVE

Be My Witness is the arm of ministry that is meant to fulfill the last portion of the GCS Mission Statement, “to encourage students to live a lifetime of service to God and man.” The purpose of Be My Witness is to help equip and disciple this generation of students, encouraging them to magnify Jesus Christ through intentional service, mentoring, and evangelism.

MISSION POINTS

EQUIPPING:  The equipping of students in the classroom with the Word of God, a biblical worldview, and the tools to minister to others.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.”
Hebrews 13:20-22

DISCIPLESHIP: The godly mentoring that students receive at all levels of GCS and the opportunities that students are given to disciple others.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.’” Matthew 16:24

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple.  And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26-28

EVANGELISM: Students putting hands and feet to the gospel by sharing their faith in Christ to the lost world.

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5:20-21
SERVICE: Students glorifying God through the giving of themselves to help and serve others.

“…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."   Mark 10:43-45
