Varsity Girls Basketball
Coach Buckner attended The Masters University in California, and studied Kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science. She played basketball there for two years and her freshman year she went to Northwestern College and played there as well. She started playing basketball in 7th grade and played in high school on a homeschool team, THESA riders, where she was apart of 2 state championship teams and 3 national championship teams and also was able to receive All-Tournament team, and All-Region team. In high school she knew she wanted to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level because she just absolutely loved it and enjoyed the high intensity and skill it required, it wasn't until college that she wanted to keep playing because she loved the idea that she could use something she was good at as a way to glorify and bring honor to Christ in the way she played, treated her teammates and how she responded to her opponents and referees.
As far as coaching, there are several things she enjoys but the things she enjoys the most is getting the opportunity to have an impact on high school girls, getting to play a role in their life and Lord willing being a positive influence and role model for them. On the basketball side, she loves seeing her athletes improve or when they finally understand something they've been working on and it just clicks for them! It makes her so excited to see that they are learning and trying to get better.
