The Seventh Grade students will continue a four-year study of the Elements and Principles of Design. This will allow them to learn skills and aesthetic visual discrimination and judgment. The students will use different activities to emphasize how the different Elements and Principles of Design are part of what makes “Art.” They will also be made more aware of the variety of specialized abilities that are creative in nature that God gives individuals.

Choir
God desires to be glorified through musical expression. The major Scriptural function of music is for the praise and worship of God. Psalm 105 is a beautiful example of praising God with different instruments such as the trumpet, stringed instruments, and cymbals.
Music is a characteristic of the Spirit-filled Christian as shown in Ephesians 5:19, “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 invites us to “admonish one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God.”
While the Bible is not a music book, it does touch on areas of music. Music was an integral part of all Old Testament ceremonies and it will play an important part in the Second Coming of Christ; “in a moment, in the twinkling of and eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” (I Corinthians 15:52).
The study of music should include the integration of the study of God's Word in order to learn music from a Biblical world and life view. This involves more than merely quoting Bible verses that refer to music. It involves finding the musical facts and principles, which are taught in the Bible and incorporating them into the teaching. In order for this kind of integration to take place, students must be engaged in both the study of music and the study of the Bible.
The high school choir is a Fine Arts elective and continues the development of vocal music skills and musical understanding begun in elementary and is used in helping promote Greenville Christian School within the community.
Competitive Communications
The competitive communications curriculum is designed to teach students effective communication skills because God is a communicating God who has communicated with man throughout history through His creation, by the actions He performs, and through His message in written form, the Bible. The program focuses on the development of the students’ verbal abilities in oral communication, especially competitive events such as oral interpretation of literature, original oratory, extemporaneous speaking, drama, and debate.
In addition, students are expected to think logically, Biblically, and creatively about a variety of topics and themes. Students prepare performances and presentations according to individually set goals.
